Why You Should Visit Bangkok During The Amazing Thailand Grand Sale

The sprawling buildings, skyscrapers, chaotic city life, contrast lifestyle, shopper’s paradise, and the land of numerous attractions. Known as the City of Angels, Bangkok is like any other metropolitan city, though it has some amazing things to offer if you want to explore it leisurely. Most travelers treat Bangkok as a stopover for their sojourn to beaches and hills in Thailand, but I found Bangkok more than just a chaotic city. It charms you with its ultra-modern outlook, but at the same time, it embraces you with its rich cultural magnetism. What amazed me in Bangkok was the warm behavior, high standard of hospitality, and the gracious smile of the Thai people.

Bangkok is considered a shopper’s paradise with end number of Shopping malls ranging from super luxury to economy, street markets, floating markets, and weekend markets. This city is like a wonderland for the Shopaholic, where you will be delighted to find a wide range of luxury brands including jewelry, clothing lines, makeup, and electronics. From high-end brands to local handicrafts, you can find everything in Bangkok. I was overwhelmed by receiving an invitation to attend the opening ceremony of “Amazing Thailand Grand Sale 2016” in Bangkok. This is the best time to be in Bangkok for Shopaholics.

“The Amazing Thailand Grand Sale 2016”, is the biggest shopping event in Thailand, starting from 15th June to 15th August. The brainchild of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), this shopping extravaganza will delight you with discounts ranging from 10% to 80% on various products. This is an annual campaign by the Tourism Authority of Thailand in partnership with Visa International and it has been a successful campaign for the last 17 years. Interestingly, this year, the festival is designed to attract a lot of women travelers to Thailand by launching a brand new campaign called “TAT’s Woman’s Journey” in the month of August. Almost 15,000 tourism business operators in more than 110 department stores and shopping centers in seven major tourist destinations like Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Hat Yai, Hua Hin, and Udon Thani are participating in the Amazing Thailand Grand sale, this year. According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand, there will be fun events where a lucky draw winner will get“Travel 365 Days in Thailand”, which will include flight tickets and accommodation as well.

The launch of the shopping festival started with a Shopping challenge in which 14 team representatives from across Asia and Australia participated. The challenge was to spend 10, 000 Thai Bhat in the selected Malls within 90 minutes. Not just that, points were added based on the number of stamps on the passport, which was provided to each team, and also additional points from each Shopping mall along with live videos and photos.

The day pass of BTS (Sky Train) was also given to each one of us on the team. The shopping challenge was one fun activity where each team was running from one mall to another, racing against the allotted time. The whole atmosphere was filled with excitement, thrills, and joy. The spirit of every participant was high and teams were competing with each other. I never realized that shopping can be so much fun in an allotted time slot. I had my share of fun while hopping shopping malls using sky trains. The Siam area itself houses a couple of big malls like Siam Paragon, Siam Center, MBK Shopping Center, and Siam Discovery. Not just that, if you get down at Chitlom station, you can shop at Gaysorn, Central World and Zen, Amarin Plaza, Central Chidlom, and Central Embassy mall. Likewise, stations like Asoke and Phom Phong have a good number of shopping malls to satisfy their shopaholic soul. The best part is that all the malls are concentrated in the center of Bangkok and you can easily travel via the BTS Train which makes your shopping experience a satisfactory one as you can avoid the chaotic traffic in Bangkok and have a hustle-free shopping experience.

This seems to be an extraordinary spot for shopaholics. I haven’t been to Bangkok yet however, truly might want to go. What’s more, I hadn’t believed it to be so incredible for shopping. Great to be aware for when I at last visit.

Being a shopaholic myself, I can vouch for that. But your shopping experience will not be ridiculously expensive. Thats the fact.

This kind of shopping must have been super exciting. When I was in Bangkok last year, I did this running around within shops. I had just three hours for shopping and I bought a new bag for all that I shopped. There was so much to choose that I touched and picked. It was thrilling. Thailand is a great place to shop for sure. In any case I love shopping. These days I am exploring shopping malls of Johannesburg.
