Launch of Portuguese Cocktail Bar & A Brand New Desserts Menu at Barcelos

Barcelos is a household name worldwide for its authentic and extremely delectable, yet traditionally cooked cuisines. Whenever it comes to Barcelos, people mostly associate it with its famous Flame Grilled Peri Peri Chicken menu. After the huge success of bringing the famous Black Burger to India, Barcelos has introduced the rich wine culture of Portugal by bringing the brand new Portuguese Cocktail Bar.

Founded in Pretoria, South Africa in 1993, with a single operation, Barcelos has made its presence felt in 20 countries with more than 150 outlets, today. The palatable cuisines of this restaurant have not only turned it into a household name, but also made it one of the most visited restaurants in town. With an innovative and exotic menu, Barcelos has managed to win people’s heart over the years. If I specifically talk about the bar menu, which includes Molecular drinks, Sangria and boozy shakes are already the top most favourite drinks of the foodies. Taking a step forward, Barcelos has introduced an exclusive Portuguese Cocktail Bar recently. Portuguese Cocktail Bar has interesting and intriguing drinks such as Bermuda (Gin, brandy, grenadine mingled with orange juice), Poncha Jura (choice of coke or sprite in vodka with cinnamon, ginger and pomegranate flavour), Ola (a rum based drink with flavour of rose and betel leaves), Portuguese in Love (a twist in love with brandy and pomegranate), amongst many others.

I visited Barcelos (Khan Market Outlet) for the first time. The decor and the interiors are inspired by the Portugal theme. The colourful interiors and the wooden stairs impressed me to the core. As I settled down comfortably, I was served Arabic Mezze Platter.

Somehow the food culture of Middle Eastern countries create a craving in me . So whenever I get an opportunity to try Middle Eastern cuisines, it simply delights me. Be it hummus, pita bread or falafel, I relish all of them. The Arabic Mezze Platter was full of flavourful food of my choice. It came with the fresh hummus, baba ghanoush, tzatziki, pesto hummus and tabbouleh with the crispy falafel and spongy pita. To compliment it, I ordered an Indian classic Cocktail called Theeki Mirchi (Vodka, Guava juice, fresh green chillies, and lime Juice).

The intoxicated and spicy cocktail was a good blend and it complemented the platter perfectly. Next up was the Khatti Meethi Margarita, which blends with tequila, fresh lime, mint leaves, tamarind and watermelon. It has a refreshing and soothing effect on your taste buds.

What I liked most was another classic Indian Cocktail named Paan Tini. A special mention for this for its innovative way of presenting it with Vodka, Betel leaves, areca nut, mukhwas, gulkand and vanilla ice cream. This is one of the must try Indian classic cocktails  at Barcelos. A sweet yet dominating flavors of betel leaves and vanilla ice cream gives it a unique and exotic taste.

Not just that, Barcelos has come out with an array of new dessert menu to give a perfect ending to your dinner date. The Red Velvet lava and Green Tea lava to serve with ice cream, have been introduced for the first time in India.

Apart from that, there is the traditional Cheese served with Gulab Jamun and Ice cream, Gold chocolate cake served with meringue and ice cream, amongst others.

It was like a sweet fiesta at Barcelos. I simply loved the Cheese cake with Gulab Jamun & Ice cream, which I think is one of the most innovate dessert I have had in recent time.

Don’t forget to try the Portuguese Cocktails & Desserts Menu in your next visit to Barcelos
