Imagine waking up in the wee hours, long before daybreak. You layer yourself up and prepare for an early morning jungle safari in Kanha National Park. The chilled air brushes your cheeks, and the sound of the wind mingles with the excitement in the air. The real feeling of wilderness comes when you enter the forest. The peaceful environment, the rustling of the leaves, the mist‑laden landscape, and the sight of the most enchanting sunrise in the forest—all of it felt magical. In that moment, all I wanted was to freeze time and stay right there.
The jungle safari with well-appointed naturalist and forest guide has its own charm. As you traverse the grasslands and wooded trails, seeing grazing deer, monkeys on the tree branches, jackals, wild boars running, make you appreciate the ecosystem of the forest where everyone co-exist peacefully.
Even though survival of the fittest is the unannounced rule. The urge to spot a tiger or leopard builds up when you navigate your way to various lanes in the forest and keep following the alarm call.
In the forest, it is sheer luck and impeccable timing that reward you with a rare sighting of the majestic tiger or the elusive leopard. I still can’t fathom the fact that I had the most amazing tiger sighting in Kanha National Park. After much anticipation, the tiger finally showed up and crossed just next to our jeep. It was beyond extraordinary.
SUNDOWNER
As the day softens into evening, the camp curates one of its most evocative offerings—the sundowner. Set against the backdrop of an open landscape, just by the lake surrounded by the village, the table was laid up with hot cup of tea, coffee, juice, etc., pairing with hot and cold snacks. The setting was beyond perfect where you would like to slow down a bit.
Watching the golden sunset, the shift through hues of amber and rose, seeing the villagers returning home from far and the stillness made every moment feel personal yet unintrusive. It is quiet, cinematic, and almost meditative—where time seems to pause, and you find yourself in silent conversation with nature, wrapped in gratitude for the simple, fleeting beauty of dusk.
BUSH DINNER UNDER THE STARS
Dining at Kanha Jungle Camp goes beyond the dining room. Their signature bush dinners are an experience in themselves—set under open skies, lit by lanterns or bonfires, and surrounded by the sound of the jungle.
