It was one of those busy days when I got a call from OYO Rooms to be a part of this great initiative called OYO WE. I found it very interesting as I had never heard of a Hotel exclusively for Women. I was asked to spend a night with a few female bloggers at the property. It sounded very interesting as it would not only give me the privilege to stay at the property and experience the exclusivity but also allow me to interact with my fellow bloggers.
As planned, I reached the hotel by 7.30 p.m. The very first thing I noticed was that one could not open the main door from outside. I was really impressed by this. As soon as I entered, I was welcomed by the manager Malvika Bhat, with a big smile. I loved the idea of a hotel which is exclusively run by women. From reception to the kitchen, everything is operated by women. It is one of its kind initiative in India and OYO ROOMS has done it quite well.
After my registration at the reception, I was handed over the room key and directed towards the room on the first floor. In the meantime, I inquired about other bloggers and came to know that almost everyone was there in their respective rooms. I got excited when I got to know that I am going to spend time with two of my blogger friends, Akansha and Manjulika. The idea of spending the night in a women exclusive hotel and that too with bloggers reminded me of my hostel days.
As soon as I checked into my room, the first thing I noticed was a pink pouch. I was amazed when I unzipped the pouch and got to see the most essential things a girl wants to carry while travelling. I was super impressed when I specially saw a sanitary pad along with shampoo, shower gel, Olay total effect, etc.
I never thought in my wildest dreams that one fine day there will a women exclusive hotel where there will be no safety issues to deal with and on top of it, you will be pampered with all the facilities along with women essentials. It was interesting to see OYO–NYKAA partnership as well. You can avail some essential stuff like safety pins, oil, toothbrush, etc., in the hotel itself. Though these things are not free, they do have a rate card available in the room itself. I personally liked the interior of the room.
It is simple, elegant and beautifully done
I must admit that the full size mirror took my attention. Usually we girls love to see ourselves in the mirror and if it is full size, then it becomes a bonus. One can also avail Salon services. OYO WE has tied up with Vanity Cube, which is a premium Salon service. I was really impressed by the effort they have put into taking care of minute details. This is really commendable.
After I freshened up, I came down for the meet up. It was a never ending conversation among the bloggers and the bunch of OYO Girls who were there at the property with us. Being an inquisitive mind, we all started asking a lot of questions to Deepika who is a Category Head of OYO WE. I got to know that this property has 18 rooms and very soon they are coming up with OYO WE in Delhi and Noida as well. It was such a lovely conversation with all of them that I never felt that I was on a professional trip. We talked about almost everything under the sky like travel, hotel, solo travel, life, marriage and what not. It is always fun to talk to women who are having similar interests. Soon we were treated with delicious food. I must tell you that the food was really good. They do have a special menu for each day and they can also provide Tiffin service. One can even have Ghar Ka Khana, which is less oily and spicy.
Before we called it a day, we were handed over lovely goody bags.
Apart from all the goodies, what took my attention were those Cup cakes customized with OYO ROOMS LOGO on it.
I believe that OYO WE is a great initiative for a country like India, where women safety is one of the top issues. This is a great space for women travelers, solo backpackers and also corporate women who travel meticulously across different destinations. OYO WE is a solution to all those who have apprehensions regarding safety in a new destination.
The only suggestion I have for OYO WE is that they should have a Cyber Space in the property, which is always helpful in an emergency in case your laptop blanks out.
The great news is that OYO ROOMS is planning to open OYEWE in different metro cities across India.
So if you are travelling alone and looking for a space for absolute safety, then your search ends at OYO WE.
